Attending a watercolour masterclass workshop with renowned artist David Poxon RI offers an immersive dive into the art of capturing breath taking detail, depth, and realism.
Known globally for his exquisite depictions of weathered surfaces, rust, and architectural elements.
David structures his masterclasses to unlock the secrets of pure watercolour in a careful step by step format, making all students feel empowered and energised..
Participants can expect step-by-step guidance on how to move beyond basic painting and master complex layering techniques. David demonstrates how to build rich, luminous tones from light to dark without relying on white pigment. You will learn specialized methods for creating striking textures—such as peeling paint, aged wood, and oxidized metal—using unconventional tools alongside traditional brushes.
The workshop emphasizes careful observation, planning compositions, and preserving highlights using masking fluids or clever barriers.
Expect personalized critique, valuable insights into finding inspiration from everyday objects, and hands-on practice. Whether you are looking to refine your loose expressive style or capture intricate realism, David’s supportive and detailed instruction will help elevate your watercolour practice and transform how you approach texture and light.
